DataSplit Online DataSheet
Connect Routers, 56 Kbps Equipment, PBXs and More into a Single T1 Communications
Link.
The expandable, affordable T1 solution for splitting off high-speed data. The DataSplit
T1 CSU/DSU Multiplexer from VoxTechnologies Corp., combines an intelligent T1 Channel
Service Unit and Data Service Unit with T1 multiplexing functions providing voice and data
integration over a T1 line. The DataSplit 'splits' off high-speed data channels from a T1
line with the option of passing on the remaining T1 channels to other voice or data
equipment. Each data channel can then be programmed for any Fractional T1 data rate, in
increments of 56Kbps or 64Kbps, up to the full 1.536 Mbps available. The DataSplit
delivers V.35 or RS-449 interfaces to connect computer ports, LAN routers/hubs, terminal
servers, statistical Multiplexers, subrate voice/data compressors and video
teleconferencing equipment.
Flexible. Expandable. 'Future-Proof'.
The DataSplit easily accommodates growing communications requirements. Its modular
design incorporates removable Drop and Insert and Dual Data Port interfaces. This enables
a DataSplit originally equipped with just a single T1 Network Port to add a Drop and
Insert port simply by plugging in a new card. Data ports can also be expanded from two to
four high-speed V.35 or RS-449 interfaces by adding a field-replaceable card.
If more than four data ports are required, multiple DataSplit units can be cascaded
using the T1 Drop and Insert port. Units can be separated up to 1,200 feet for high-speed
data distribution - using existing twisted pair wiring in a campus or multi-story
environment.
Easy Configuration and System Status
The DataSplit exemplifies CAC's reputation for providing T1 access solutions that offer
simplified configuration and operation. The LCD display and menu keys provide on-site
diagnostics and configurations. Multi-colored LEDs enable the user to quickly perform
visual checks of T1 and data port conditions.
Terminal Management and Optional SNMP
The DataSplit offers standard VT-100 terminal management capabilities on the
supervisory port. This feature provides terminal or modem access for system configuration,
testing, and performance monitoring. A remote DataSplit can be managed from one end of the
T1 line when using the Extended Super Frame (ESF) T1 facility data link.
As an option, the DataSplit CSU/DSU T1 Multiplexer also provides Simple Management
Network Protocol (SNMP). An Async Supervisory Port provides the embedded SNMP agent
functionality, using the SLIP protocol.
The Perfect Solution for Cellular, PCS, and Battery-Backed Applications
Easy expansion, simplified management, and proven reliability. These are just some of
the important advantages you'll discover with the DataSplit T1 DSU/CSU Multiplexer from
High-Speed Networks Inc. It offers user-friendly interfaces and advanced service features
such as field-replaceable T1 and data interface cards. And DataSplit offers both A.C. and
-48 Vdc right out of the box, enabling you to simply 'plug and go' to meet your next T1
data communications challenge. DataSplit. From Carrier Access, the T1 value leader.

| Reports |
Current port status is displayed for both the near-end and far-end units (requires use
of ESF FDL for far-end reports). One-hour and 24-hour reports include time, date, and
several error counts. Individual reports show the last 96 of 15 minute intervals. 24-hour
line availability is calculated. Continuous alarm history records and counts (by alarm
type) are stored. |
| Error Counts |
Bipolar Violations, ESF CRCs, Errored Seconds, Bursty Seconds, Severely Errored

For both the T1 Network Port and the T1 Drop and Insert Port, the following alarm
types can be selected for activation: Loss of Signal, Yellow Alarm, Alarm Indication
Signal Received, Loss of Frame, Bipolar Violation Threshold Exceeded, Errored Seconds
Threshold Exceeded, Unavailable Seconds Threshold Exceeded. An additional alarm type for
the T1 Network Port is Slip Indication. A system-level Master Clock Loss alarm is also
selectable. All 4 of the high-speed user data ports may be selected to alarm when the RTS
signal from the attached DTE is lost, or when the incoming Data Clock is lost. |
