A Scalable High Performance Platform

 

      HiServer 318 are designed for accommodating up to 18 server blades within 3U Rack mount chassis. A standard 42U rack enclosure can contain up to 252 server blades, each with GHz+ Pentium III processor and redundant 100Mb/1000Mb Lan ports. It is suited for the intensive computing and communication applications of nowadays. HiServer is not only significant in its superior overall performance, but also performs excellently in the aspect of power consumption, with each server only consuming less than 50 watts.

Quick Deployment and Maintenance

     All field serviceable units of HiServer™ 318 are hot swappable, including Server blade, Management blade, power modules, and fan modules. Users can deploy the HiServer with minimum efforts by just having to ' plug and play' the server blades. The hot-swap feature also enables fast and easy system maintenance. Whenever there is a failure in any of its parts, users may just take out the failing part and replace it with a workable one without having to shut down the whole HiServer system.
 

     HiServer's unique cable less KVM switch and peripheral switch design permits all those server blades within one chassis to share a single set of keyboard, video, mouse, CD-ROM and floppy drives without any cable, which makes on-site service more efficient and beneficial to users who work with diversified applications that requires frequent system configuration. Plus with proprietary stackable KVM switch function, HiServer allow several chassis to share access to the KVM.

Adaptive and Scalable System Configuration

      The server blades of HiServer are built with off-the-shelf upgradeable components, including CPU, RAM and HDD. This makes HiServer™ more adaptive to application requirement than other.

       HiServer™ are the sole blade server in the world that offers I/O expandability. Server blades with 64-bit I/O expansion slot can host high performance SCSI HBA, FC HBA, VIDEO CODEC, WAN NIC, plus lots of others to fulfill the functions for various applications.

Lower Total Cost of Ownership

      HiServer 318 saves user's investment on many fronts. The most obvious one is its compact design that gives zoom for 18server blades with only 3U space, which helps to reduce the investment in floor space significantly. Through the optimal design, HiServer consumes no extra power than that is needed - each blade consumes only less than 50 watts; and as a result, HiServer also saves lots of cost in energy consumption as well as air conditioning.

      In addition to its uniquely innovative designs, the most outstanding benefit of HiServer is that its owner will not only achieve tremendous saving in the investment, but will also minimize maintenance costs as well as down-time losses over time, which are accomplished by combining the features of its unique KVM&CF sharing and KVM daisy chain architecture, as well as its modular, backup, and hot-swap design. Those features allow users to perform system configuration, software installation and maintenance on any server blades with less effort, both at local and remote sites. Just by clicking the chassis or blade icon, users can remotely monitor all field service units and execute Start/Stop/Restart to any server blades. Even when needing to replace the failure parts, all you have to do is "pull and plug". Therefore, administrator of HiServer systems can always take action and recuperate the system at the earliest moment.

 

      Another advantage is the simplified cabling, where only 18 cords are used with 252 servers within a 42U rack. That means no more tangled cables to trouble the system administrator and a much higher number of servers can be managed by one person, in contrast to traditional 1U slim server.
