ATLAS 550 RESOURCE MODULE

The ATLAS 550 VCOM (Voice Compression Module) combines with other ATLAS components to allow voice traffic to share the same lines as data and LAN traffic. A single VCOM Module simultaneously compresses up to 24-channels for transmission over public or private frame relay networks or dedicated leased lines. Voice and data traffic integration yields a dramatic reduction in communication expenses.

The ATLAS VCOM Module occupies a single slot in the ATLAS chassis and is available in 4-, 8-, 16- and 24- channel configurations. A single ATLAS 550 system with Voice Compression Modules installed can simultaneously compress up to 32 channels. The 6:1 compression ratio allows six voice calls to be carried on a single DS0.

The ATLAS VCOM Module interoperates with ADTRAN's desktop Voice/Data Frame Relay products, the EXPRESS 5200TM Series, and ATLAS 800PLUS/810PLUS.

The ATLAS VCOM Module automatically detects fax transmissions and locally demodulates the fax sending the baseband component of the fax over the link.
