Executive Overview

For many network service providers (NSPs), the increase in Internet traffic is a two-edge sword. The increasing revenues are welcome but the traditional cost to provide the service can be unprofitable.

For NSPs or CLECs providing Internet services, the ADTRAN ATLAS 800 can relieve your class 5 switch congestion by dynamically peeling off the Internet traffic directly onto the data network.

ATLAS Solution

The ADTRAN ATLAS 800 can front-end the NSP's class 5 switch, terminate multiple T1/PRI circuits from the RBOC and dynamically switch the calls based upon the telephone number dialed by the user. Using integral call switching and NSP defined dial plan, ATLAS 800 will switch and route the Internet user's call directly onto the modem pool or data network based upon the digits dialed.

ATLAS 800 can support up to 34 T1/PRI circuits in a small footprint. The modular chassis can be configured with redundant power supply and the interface modules are hot swappable which eliminates the need to take down service when expanding the infrastructure.
