Alcatel ADSL Line Card (24-port) | Release 2.1

The 24-port asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) line card is part of the Alcatel DSL product family, which offers scalable, carrier class, high speed access to the multiservice ATM backbone network. The Alcatel 24-port ADSL line card fits into the Alcatel 7350 ASAM and delivers broadband access to residential and business customers.

The 24-port ADSL line card is available in two versions, depending upon the desired maximum downstream rate. One version offers a maximum downstream rate of 8 Mb/s; the other, with a software enhancement, tips the scales at 11 Mb/s, when using Alcatel's new enhanced mode.

This additional downstream bandwidth allows operators to support high bandwidth applications, such as multiple (broadcast quality) video streams per DSL port.

Because Alcatel DSL products are managed end-to-end and fully integrated with the broadband network, lifecycle costs are significantly reduced. At the same time, providers can spread the cost of providing DSL access over a full range of ATM-based services, including fast Internet access, virtual private networks (VPNs), remote LAN access, and more demanding video and multimedia applications (such as video broadcast, video on demand, distance learning, video conferencing, and telemedicine).

Key Benefits

The ADSL line card provides 24 ADSL line terminations and ATM layer functions to extend the broadband network over unconditioned copper. The card allows more than 2,200 lines to be provisioned from a single node. As well, the card is fully compliant to ITU-T G.992.1 (full rate ADSL), G.992.2 (G.Lite), G.994.1 (G.hs) and ANSI T1.413 Issue 2.

Network management can be provided using the industry leading family of Alcatel network and service management products, including the powerful Alcatel 5620 Network Manager (NM), through the local management port or remotely using SNMP.
