_____________________________________________________________________________
Yantai Dongfang Electronic Information Industrial Company in
China has come up with a novel and important application of Moxa
CN2500 Async Server. This type of power distribution control system
must be extremely stable, and is required to keep working with
close to 100% certainty. For this reason, the company has implemented
a "hot swap redundant system", of which CN2500 Async
Server is an integral part. The system includes the database,
software, management system design, so it requires two hosts,
two terminal servers, and two network systems. In the event that
one of the three elements (host, terminal server, or network)
stops working, the Power Distribution System will hot swap to
the corresponding backup machine without crashing the entire system.
When the network is working correctly, the two systems are able
to share some of the data loading.
For this particular application, MOXA Async Server is used in
a data supervisory and data acquisition role, providing several
advantages over other products. Perhaps one of the most important
features Async Server has is that it is easy to control and monitor
over the network. It also provides 15 KV surge protection for
each signal, of particular importance for this application, and
comes with an ASPP programming tool for cross-platform async device
control over a TCP/IP network.
Overall Benefit:
CN2500 Async Server's hot swap feature allows switching to the
corresponding backup machine without crashing the entire system,
providing a highly reliable and scalable solution over a TCP/IP
network.
