IBM Multi Media Station

_____________________________________________________________________________
IBM has recently developed a new Multi Media Station, or MMS
for short, that uses MOXA Smartio C168H/PCI multiport boards to
connect various serial devices to the same computer. MMS is a
type of POS (Point of Sale) system designed to be placed in schools,
hospitals, office buildings, convenience stores, and other places
where consumers congregate. The Smartio C168H/PCI boards are used
to increase the number of local serial ports controlled by one
computer. Once installed in the PC-based MMS, Smartio's serial
ports are used to connect serial devices such as credit card readers,
ticket printers, and modems. The computer can then be connected
to an external network, either through a phone line or Ethernet,
allowing valuable consumer information to be relayed between the
MMS and a central database.
IBM is obviously pleased with the decision to incorporate MOXA's
product into their new state of the art MMS technology. To date
they have purchased over 500 Smartio C168H/PCI multiport boards,
and continue to place new orders. And it's no wonder. This product
is extremely reliable, guaranteeing that IBM's MMS systems will
run smoothly and trouble free far into the future. Smartio C168H/PCI's
compact board size is also a plus, allowing it to fit in virtually
any PC. Furthermore, the boards are easy to install and maintain,
freeing up valuable time for engineers to accomplish other important
tasks.
Overall Benefit:
Reduces installation and operational costs; saves maintenance
cost.
