uncompromising standards, with capacity points up to 73.5GB (this drive has 73.5
GB capacity) and an average seek time of 4.5 ms.
Industry-Leading Areal Density at 73.5 GB per Platter for all 10K RPM
Capacity Points
Higher areal density improves reliability by reducing the total number of
platters and read/write heads (moving parts) required to achieve a given
capacity. Additional benefits to lower head and platter counts include improved
performance and reductions in power consumption, acoustic noise, and cost per
MB. The Mean-Time-Between-Failure (MTBF) specification has increased by 200,000
hours from previous generation Enterprise drives to 1,200,000 hours.
MAN series disk drives provide outstanding storage performance for computing
platforms such as workstations, network file servers and enterprise servers. A
rotation speed of 10,025 RPM reduces the average rotational latency to 2.99 ms,
an improvement of 28% over a 7200 RPM drive. Minimizing rotational latency and
seek time are the key factors that improve system response time in demanding
transaction processing applications such as banking, POS or reservation systems.
MAN series disk drives achieve an amazing 84.1 MB/s peak internal data
transfer rate, providing a superior solution for the most demanding digital
audio/video applications such as non-linear editing and playback systems.
Innovative Technology
The MAN series disk drives provide innovative
features including a full track seek time of 11 ms, average seek times of 4.5
ms, single track seek time of .40 ms, average rotational latency of 2.99 ms, an
expanded 8MB data cache, reduced acoustic levels, and a high-performance,
dual-processor architecture that greatly improves response time in high-load,
multi-tasking applications.
