AMD recently announced that Major League Baseball's San Francisco Giants had chosen AMD as a technology partner. At AT&T Park the Giants use AMD technology to allow fans to vote for which players should be in the starting lineup.

Advantech Improves CompactPCI and AMC Performance

Advantech recently improved the performance of CompactPCI and AMC products through a significant processor upgrade. Utilizing Third Generation Intel Core i7 processors are the MIC-5603 and MIC-3395. Both have seen significant improvements in performance.

AMD Updates APU's for Notebooks, Ultrathins and More

AMD recently updated it's Accelerated Processing Units for ultrathin and value notebooks, among others. Some of the updated features include enhanced abilities in HD graphics and performance boosts. AMD has shipped more than 12 millions APU's and in Q2 of 2011 they sold over 5 million of the C and E-series APU's.

Rockwell Automation Settles With SEC

Rockwell Automation (NYSE: ROK) said today that it has settled a previously disclosed civil matter with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) involving civil violations of the books and records and internal controls provisions of the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act that took place in 2006 and earlier by one of its former Power Systems subsidiaries in China.

Under the terms of the settlement, Rockwell Automation will forfeit $1.8 million in profit, plus interest and a $400,000 penalty.

Rockwell Automation said it discovered the potential violations through its normal financial review process. It voluntarily self-reported to the SEC, publicly disclosed this matter in its Form 10-K in November 2006, and fully cooperated with SEC staff during the course of the government's investigation. ​

VIA Technologies Legacy Chipset Factory Affected by Japan Earthquake & Tsunami

We have been informed that one of the factories that produces VIA Technologies' legacy chipset components has postponed shipments of the VIA CN700, VX800 and VT8237 chipsets until further notice. There is still a supply of these chipsets and the products that utilize them, however we may see some shortage in the future, depending on how long the production is halted.
