Alcatel's 3608 MainStreet Frame Relay Access Device (FRAD) consolidates toll-quality voice with fax and data while taking advantage of the statistical multiplexing and distance-insensitive benefits achievable with frame relay services.

The compact 3608 MainStreet FRAD, with its many adaptive features and configuration options, cuts costs while maintaining consistently high quality of service levels.

The 3608 MainStreet FRAD provides a variety of features including:

Toll-quality services

The 3608 MainStreet FRAD features AssuredVoice, an adaptive packet voice technology from Alcatel. Voice compression, (ITU-T G.729 CS-ACELP), combined with adaptive delay equalization techniques, provides high quality services on packet-based networks. Innovative adaptive techniques developed by Alcatel ensure that the 3608 MainStreet FRAD maintains voice quality during adverse network conditions.

Easy configuration and upgrading

Designed for plug-and-play installation with minimal initial configuration, the 3608 MainStreet FRAD may be locally or remotely configured. The 3608 MainStreet FRAD also supports SNMP, and the software can be locally or remotely upgraded.

Network management

An Alcatel 5520 SNMP Element Manager (SNMP EM), formerly the 45020 Element Manager*, descriptor file is available to provide graphical management of the 3608 MainStreet FRAD from a network management station.
